A.World Urban Forum, from september 1st to the 6

Over 3,000 people have already registered to attend the leading conference on cities World Urban Form 6. The Forum Programme will feature an array of events for all urban actors. This is the moment to discuss and debate the urban future, when for the first time in human history, half of the world’s population lives in cities. Our young people are the citizens of the future and the World Urban Forum will focus on their opportunities and challenges during the Youth Assembly. There will also be an opportunity to talk about Gender Equality Action in the Gender Assembly and Public and Private sector collaboration to work together to create more sustainable cities. There will be something for everyone; networking events, training events, round-tables, dialogues and thematic open debates, special sessions on topical subjects, media events, launches, seminars, and much more.

What is the World Urban Forum? The Forum has become the preeminent conference on all things urban. It brings together government ministers, mayors, diplomats, grassroots women’s organizations, youth and slum dwellers groups, planners, engineers and architects, academics, and the private sector as partners working for better cities.

B. 1stWorld Summit of Local Governments for the Right to the City, from the december 10 to 12

This summit is being organized by the cities of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis, the conurbation authority of Plaine Commune and the UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights. The Summit will be a space to discuss, exchange experiences and give visibility to the commitment of local governments for the right to the city.
